When Mary C. Snow-West Side Elementary in Charleston, WV, opened in 2011, it was designed to be a 21st Century school with technology at the forefront. Students, parent, educators and administrators alike were excited to experience a learning environment that was designed with technology at its center.
While technology applications are clearly visible in the classrooms, many behind-the-scenes features at the time of its occupancy made this school like no other in the state. With more than 60,000 square feet, the building was touted as the most innovative school in West Virginia. Mason & Barry staff engineered the systems in the building to coordinate, saving energy costs and keeping the students and staff safe during the school day.
